With a few more weeks left before December ends, we can't help but be grateful for all that this year has brought. We've had many shows in spectacular venues, both near and far. The thought of all of the bowls, spoons, spatulas, and cutting boards that are part of the seasonal celebrations warms our hearts. Thank you to you all for your continued support and appreciation for this work. It's not always easy to be an artist by trade - but it's hard to imagine life without the craft. For those who are interested in purchasing from me, you can stop by the Northfield Arts Guild in downtown Northfield for a good selection. I've also got a number of pieces still up on Etsy. And, finally, please feel free to call me to ask about a special piece. My number is 240-675-8613. Calls between the hours of 9 AM - 5 PM CST are preferred, but I can be flexible. I'm still able to send out pieces in time for the Christmas celebrations this week. Next week will be a bit trickier! Wishing you all the best in this wintery season.

Delighted to be a new city in the midwest this weekend: Madison! I'll be doing the Holiday Art Fair with the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Although it's a more intimate show (with just under 100 artists), the caliber promises to be spectacular. It's an honor to be part of the show. Hoping that if the snowstorm comes on Friday, it will be mild, with just enough snow to remind us that winter is on its way...meanwhile our garden continues to produce kale, greens, and sweet carrots and parsnips. Looking ahead, I'll be at the Landmark Center Old Fashioned Holiday Bazaar in St. Paul December 1 - 3 (the first weekend of December). I'm grateful to be featured at the Fine Craft Collective (Northfield Art Guild's holiday show), which is open most days through December. Finally, as always, I've got some pieces on Etsy and can be reached for questions about pieces that you may have seen at a market, but can't find online. Until next time, be well. Benjamin Friends, Delighted to share that I'll be in Redwing this weekend for the Fall Festival. The leaves in SE Minnesota are just starting to change, so it should make for a beautiful weekend escape. I'm thrilled to share that Artful Living's Autumn 2016 issue features me as one of the top 10 A-listers (see page 129). Each nominee must be "Authentic: Discovered in the North; Validated: Meeting the highest standards; and Coveted: Longed for and in demand." What an honor to be featured among such talented artists! I also received the good news that I've been accepted into the 2017 show in April in St. Paul, MN. Hooray! And, I've posted a number of new pieces on Etsy (Go to my Cannon River Bowl Shop) for those near and far who can't visit me at a show. All this, on top of raspberries that continue to ripen in our backyard, reminds me of how fortunate we are. Until next time, be well. So excited to be joining the good people of Lakeville for this weekend's show. Here's the link to their FB page. It should be fun. I've been given advance warning that a number of people start perusing the festival before the 10 AM start, which should make for a great start to the day.
Looking forward to the cooler temperatures and fall colors. Getting ready for prime bowl making season! I've included a picture from Rehoboth Beach, MD - where our family used to vacation in the fall. Miss the ocean, but love the midwest waters. Be well, Benjamin Excited about this weekend's Fine Arts Festival in hometown Northfield! It's Saturday and Sunday. It's truly hard to imagine, but it's got the live reenactments of the actual defeat of Jesse James on main street, with horses, etc. And, carnival rides. And, lots of art. Tens of thousands of people come to our little town for the fun.
The following weekend is Lakeville. I'll be updating my show list soon with some of my fall dates. Be well, Benjamin Just an update for today - Saturday (8/27).
Benjamin's show in Austin is ON! He's excited about being in SPAM land. Rachel is not/not doing the Northfield Riverwalk today. Early morning rains forced a cancellation. Benjamin will be back at the Riverwalk next weekend! Headed to the Austin ArtWorks Festival this weekend - rain or shine. Eager to see what this little town made famous by SPAM and now research affiliated with Mayo is like.
Rachel may do Northfield's Riverwalk - though rain may keep her away. Be well, Benjamin One more day to go in Duluth at the Bayfront Art Festival. It's a great show - with a super view of the tall ships. Sharing the view from my tent (the one with the bike) on the giant yellow rubber ducky.
Rachel was rained out in Northfield, but will be back at Riverwalk next week. Be well, Benjamin This Wednesday, I'll be making the trek to Duluth for the Art in Bayfront Park festival. It will be my first time, but I hear that it's a fun destination. I'm excited to see the tall ships (and the rubber ducky). The show runs from Thursday to Sunday - more info on the show here.
I've still got many pieces that would make fantastic additions to your kitchen or gifts for others. (That said, I am starting to run low on a few items.) Rachel will be at Riverwalk, happy to be part of Northfield's fine riverside market. Meanwhile, our home garden continues to amaze with loads of tomatoes, peppers, and scads of melons on their way. Hooray for home gardens :) Be well and hope to see you all at the show! Benjamin Amazing how fast a year goes by! This weekend is the Uptown Art Festival in Minneapolis. I'll be in spot #4311 (in the grassy mall close to where I was last year.) I'll be there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
On Saturday, Rachel will be at Riverwalk in Northfield again. Looking forward to a beautiful weather weekend and a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. pic below is of my toaster tongs...hooray for no more burned fingers :) Be well, Benjamin |
